Once the Host accepts, the traveller books and pays in the app, and everyone shares the cost. No detours, no surge pricing.
What is Routebook?
Routebook is a cost-sharing carpool marketplace. Hosts post trips they're already taking, and travellers join for the part of the route they need.
It isn't a ride-hail or taxi service. Hosts don't take detours or earn a fare. Everyone shares the cost of a trip that was happening anyway.
How much does a ride cost?
Hosts set the price when they post a trip, and travellers pay for the part of the route they travel. Prices are capped at the standard mileage rate, so contributions only cover the cost of the trip.
You'll always see the full amount before you pay.
How do I know who I'm travelling with?
Every member verifies their phone number and completes a government ID check with a live selfie. Profiles show real names and photos, and Hosts and travellers review each other after every trip.
ID checks confirm identity; they aren't background checks. You can report or block any member from their profile.
How does payment work?
Travellers pay in the app when they book a seat. The payment is held until the trip is complete, then the Host's share is paid out to their bank account through Stripe. No cash changes hands.
What if my plans change?
Cancel 24 hours or more before departure and you get a full refund. Cancel later than that and you get 50% back, with the other 50% going to the Host. If the Host cancels, you're refunded in full.
